Our story begins in 1988, when Mcrit SL. was founded by engineers of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia – Barcelona Tech, who were interested in policy impact assessment.
The name Mcrit stands for “Multicriteria“, the method of decision making that integrates quantitative and qualitative assessments of multiple assessment criteria.
For more than 30 years, Mcrit has carried out over 1.,500 projects and studies – including research and strategic foresight in the fields of mobility, transport and urban planning – both nationally and internationally. Integration, multidisciplinary and sustainability, combined with economic efficiency, are key elements of the solutions adopted.
Mcrit’s research activities are oriented to the development of advanced systems and planning methods, including information, forecasting and policy assessment models. We have been involved in a number of projects directly related to the impact assessment of European policies and investments, and the development of tools for the identification and analysis of territorial evidence.
Social Responsibility
In 2004, Mcrit created Ersilia Foundation, with the aim to transfer to the educational community at all levels, the know-how of Mcrit in the use of advanced technologies, in order to develop scenario-centric and project-based resources, facilitating a new educational paradigm.
Over the years, Ersilia has been very active in collaborating with publishing houses, schools, and public administrations in this field. Ersilia made a general assessment of engineering education in Catalonia and explored strategies to introduce the Concept-Design-Implementation-Operation (CDIO) approach in engineering schools.
Ersilia is currently part of European research projects in the field, such as KA-AU, ATHIKA, BUILD Solutions, UrbanShift and INTREPID.
